Gregor Townsend in talks

With Leicester Tigers getting back to winning ways in France we wake up to online reports Linking the 2022 champions with the current Scotland Head Coach.

Having previously taken up residence in Glasgow before taking the top SRU job Townsend has the top flight experience Tigers require to maintain their high standards. The former standoff had been linked with France and their attack coach vacancy, following reports from the French media however this could be Townsend keeping his options open with his contract up at the end of the 2023 World Cup.

Townsend a former Scottish international and British and Irish Lions brought Glasgow to life, with a free flowing attacking flare that rivalled the legendary Barbarians. This attacking way of thinking may be just what the Tigers need to move them away from the Kick Chase game that appears to have become the norm in English rugby.

There is no doubt that Richard Wigglesworth is one of those players destined to become a top level coach but experience is key in this industry and Townsend has that from a playing a coaching perspective. Wigglesworth may benefit further in expanding his rugby brain further, working under Borthwick was surely beneficial.

What ever happens in the East Midlands the club and its supporters have always expected big things, installing a coach that has the right credentials is a must. The club cannot go back to the levels that saw them drop to relegation levels only to be saved by a salary cap breach.
